Leticia’s love of jam-making goes all the way back to her childhood.
“When I was growing up, my Grandma Maria and I spent countless hours together, mostly in the kitchen. She shared phenomenal stories from her own childhood and called the tales ‘aventuras’, meaning ‘adventures’.
Of all the life lessons Grandma taught me, jam-making became our favorite pastime. This was something we both loved and looked forward to at the end of each week. The recipes were easy and took only a little time.
She was taught how to can and preserve fruits from her own Mother and now she was beyond thrilled that I was interested in learning, as well. Those Saturday morning jam-making lessons usually turned into full days, which included walking through her garden, examining, flowers, buds and spices we might consider mixing into our recipes.
We had the best time! Grandma has been gone for nearly eleven years and yet our precious ‘jamming’ sessions live vividly in my heart.
